Sun
Light & Power was founded in 1976, at a time
when many of us were just beginning to realize the need
to preserve and protect the world's vital resources.
Today we offer the latest in custom designed, energy
efficient technology, including state-of-the-art systems
for solar electricity and hot water, radiant heating,
earth-source heat pumps, and wind generated power.
SLP has amassed an impressive portfolio
of over five hundred installations throughout the San Francisco
Bay Area. Our success has been featured in such publications
as Sunset Magazine, the East Bay Business Times, the Journal
of Light Construction, and the book Solar House: A Guide
for the Solar Designer by Terry Galloway. We also offer
an extensive list of references, satisfied customers who
highly recommend our work.

Customer Service
At Sun Light and Power we pride ourselves
in providing a high level of customer service. For this
reason, both our solar thermal and photovoltaic (PV) installations
include services that many other companies don't provide.
In addition to installing your system, we:
- Obtain a permit on your behalf from the city or county,
- Process your PG&E paperwork so you may participate
in net metering ("selling" excess power back
to PG&E),
- Complete all paperwork and submit your California Energy
Commission rebate,
- Accept the state rebate on your behalf (so you don't
have to pay Federal Income taxes on it),
- Schedule and attend the city and county final inspection,
- Attend the PG&E inspection.
We also walk you through your system components so that
you have a good understanding of how they operate.
Environmental Commitment
We believe you will find our commitment
to the environment and the community unsurpassed in the
solar industry. Ours is the first renewable energy company
in Alameda County to become a certified Green Business.
In our efforts to live and work "green", we regularly:
Use
only recycled paper products,
- Recycle all possible metals (including wiring, scrap
aluminum, copper pipes),
- Recycle or re-use all paper and cardboard (including
the packaging your renewable energy system will be shipped
in),
- Supplement our indoor lighting with large skylights.
- Utilize a solar hot water system to provide 100% of
our hot water needs,
- Run our entire office and charge our electric vehicle
with the 6.6kW PV solar power system on our roof,
- Run our fleet of service vehicles on bio-diesel (a
renewable fuel that we have begun to manufacture ourselves
from waste cooking oil).
Social Responsibility
In addition to working green, we strive
to be socially responsible by hiring full-time employees,
paying them a living wage, and offering health benefits.
Instead of subcontracting our installations (as many contractors
do in order to cut costs), we rely on a company work force
that is continually trained and educated. SLP is in the
process of becoming an employee-owned company, thereby
ensuring that a devoted team of employee-owners will pursue
our long-term goals and keep the business running for many
years.
Dedicated Employees
Sun Light and Power's employee team not
only possess superior job skills but also individually
demonstrate a strong sense of commitment to promoting alternative
energy sources, improving the environment, and maintaining
customer friendly attitudes. At Sun Light and Power, taking
pride in the quality of our work is no tired slogan; it
is part of our company culture. We believe you will find
our collective dedication unprecedented within the solar
industry.
