Solar Electric Buying Process |
Purchasing a solar energy system can seem
like a complex process involving design decisions, municipal
permits,
inspections, government rebates, and other matters that
may be unfamiliar to most energy consumers. Sun Light and
Power will guide you through the process step-by-step.
We will:
- Make the process as simple and easy as possible
- Walk
you through each procedure
- Provide you with the information
and assistance you need to make well-informed decisions
Here is a step-by-step outline of the solar electric buying
process.
STEP 1: ANALYZING YOUR ENERGY USE
Sun Light
and Power helps you determine your specific energy needs.
Usually we analyze 12 months of your past electrical
bills to determine the average monthly use of your home
or business. Due to differences in lifestyle or energy
applications, your analysis will be unique to your situation.
STEP 2: THE SITE VISIT
A Sun Light and
Power Solar Consultant visits your home or business to
further evaluate your specific needs and
requirements. At this time, we discuss all installation
options, the orientation of the solar array, the unique
opportunities and challenges of your site, and we review
with you general information about the solar buying process.
STEP 3: SYSTEM DESIGN & BID PROPOSAL
We
design a power system specifically tailored to your home
or business needs, reflecting your personalized
energy use analysis and the installation factors derived
from
the site visit. Our consultant presents you with a comprehensive
bid proposal that includes your detailed system design,
financial analysis, and any applicable product information.
STEP 4: DESIGN & CONTRACT APPROVAL
Your
Sun Light and Power Solar Consultant makes every effort
to ensure that all your questions are addressed.
When you
decide you are ready to move ahead, simply sign your
contract and submit a $1000 deposit to begin production
and initiate
municipal permitting and government rebate reservation
procedures.
STEP 5: REBATE RESERVATION
Sun Light and
Power handles every step and processes all necessary paperwork
for your solar installation
project. The most important item at this stage of the
process
is
having Sun Light and Power file your rebate reservation
with the California Energy Commission (C.E.C.).
STEP 6: SYSTEM INSTALLATION
Upon receipt
of your R2 Rebate Reservation from the state of California,
Sun Light and Power schedules
an appointment
to begin the actual installation of your system. Upon
delivery of the materials to your installation site,
payment of
the remaining contract amount is due (minus the contract
deposit already paid and minus a final $500 payment
to be paid when the municipal inspection is signed
off).
STEP 7: MUNICIPAL BUILDING INSPECTION
Sun
Light and Power manages and coordinates all the required
permits and inspections. Upon completion
of your system
installation, our customer service representative
schedules your required municipal inspection. The final
payment
of $500 is due upon municipal permit sign-off.
STEP 8: UTILITY INSPECTION
Upon completion
of the municipal inspection, and receipt of final payment,
a Sun Light and Power customer
service
representative schedules your required utility inspection.
Full payment of your contract is required by the
C.E.C. before you can receive your rebate disbursement.
STEP 9: CUSTOMER SUPPORT
Upon sign-off
on your new system, we provide you with a comprehensive
operational packet and a complete
walkthrough
of your system. As Sun Light and Power has done since
1976,
we are always available to answer any questions or
service related issues that may arise.
STEP 10: ENJOY THE BENEFITS OF YOUR NEW SYSTEM!
Please
phone a Sun Light and Power representative at (510) 845-2997
for more information or to schedule
a consultation.
