Residential Solar Energy Benefits |
See your electric meter run backwards and help
the environment when you generate your own electricity with
a system designed and installed by the solar experts at Sun
Light and Power !
Reduce Your Energy Costs
Why pay your utility company when you can pay yourself? An
investment in solar energy is an affordable and sensible
financial investment with long-term benefits.
- During the 30-year life of your system, you essentially
lock into lower utility rates by producing your own electricity
and avoiding utility rate hikes.
- A typical residential system will pay for itself in as
little as 12 years, providing you with free electricity
for the remainder of its 30-year life.
- You can “sell back” your excess power production
to your utility company in the form of credits for use
during times of less production or greater need.
Government Incentives
Rebates and tax credits can pay for a significant portion
of your residential system:
- 30% Federal tax credit (up to $2000)
- California State rebates
- Loan interest deductions
- Legislative protection against property tax increases
related to the solar improvement
Low Maintenance
“ Plug
it in and forget about it.”
Solar electric systems have no moving parts, so annual visual
checks and cleanings are usually all that is required. Independent
studies indicate that operation and maintenance costs over
the life of a commercial grid-tie system measure in the neighborhood
of 0.4% of the installed capital cost of the system.1 Battery
back-up systems may require additional maintenance.
Flexible & Sizable
Solar energy provides you the flexibility to size and grow
your system over time. If your energy needs increase you
can add more system capacity to match those needs.
Reliable Technology
Today’s solar electric modules, also known as photovoltaic
modules, are based on a proven technology. Developed by NASA
to be reliable and durable, statistics show that only one
module fails for every 4200-module years of operation.2
- Systems in the State of California carry a mandated 5-year
system warranty along with industry wide 20 to 25 year
warranties on most solar photovoltaic modules.
- On partly cloudy days solar systems can turn out as much
as 80% of their potential energy. Even on extremely overcast
days, systems can still produce about 25% of their maximum
output.3
