Meals on Wheels (MOW) has been providing homebound seniors with nutritious meals since 1976. On [November 19, 2020](https://mowsf.salsalabs.org/newkitchen/index.html), MOW celebrated the grand opening of a brand new kitchen in The Sangiacomo Flynn Building on Jerrold Ave in San Francisco. This remarkable 35,794 square foot facility has allowed MOW to boost their production from 8,000 to 30,000 meals per day from the Andy and Teri Goodman Nourishing Kitchen!

Sun Light & Power designed and built a 95.3 kW ballasted PV system for the new MOW facility. The REC solar panels generated about 129 kWh of electricity during their first year of operation, which saved MOW approximately $50,000 in utility costs. The greenhouse gases that were offset by the system were the equivalent of 91.4 metric tons of CO2. This is equivalent to burning 10,280 gallons of gasoline, which is enough to fuel about 20 average passenger cars for a year.
