**Affordable Housing | PV & Solar Thermal | Berkeley, CA**

Sun Light & Power is pleased to have installed both solar electric and solar thermal systems at The Grinnell, an affordable housing development by SAHA Homes in Berkeley, CA. The photovoltaic (PV) system includes 65 Canadian Solar modules rated at a total of 30.2 kW, working in tandem with a SolarEdge SE43.2KUS inverter to deliver an estimated 44,492 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean energy annually. In addition, the solar thermal system features 15 Heliodyne Gobi 4x10 collectors connected to a Hanson storage tank, helping reduce natural gas use for domestic hot water.

According to the EPA’s greenhouse gas equivalency calculator, The Grinnell’s solar power system will avoid approximately 24.7 short tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year (tCO₂e/a). That’s on par with taking 5.2 gas-powered cars off the road for a year, or avoiding 57,145 miles of driving. It’s also equivalent to eliminating the emissions from burning 2,525 gallons of gasoline, roughly 30% of a tanker truck.

The Grinnell provides permanent supportive housing for formerly homeless seniors, combining stability, dignity, and sustainability under one roof. Sun Light & Power is proud to support SAHA’s mission by delivering integrated solar solutions that promote environmental justice and reduce utility costs for residents.
