Earlier this year, we alerted our community about AB 942, a proposed bill in the California Legislature that would have reduced key benefits for solar customers under Net Energy Metering (NEM) 1.0 and 2.0. The bill originally included provisions to cut guaranteed NEM terms from 20 years to 10, prevent NEM transfers when a solar home is sold, and block solar users from receiving the California Climate Credit.

**Thanks to a strong outpouring of public opposition and the leadership of Senator Josh Becker, those harmful changes have now been removed.**

On July 26, the Senate Energy, Utilities and Commerce Committee announced amendments to AB 942 that remove the most damaging provisions. The bill no longer proposes any changes to existing NEM contract terms or transferability. While one provision remains related to the climate credit, it only affects customers with extremely low grid usage and is not tied to solar ownership.  
This outcome is a big win for solar customers across the state. It shows that when we speak up together, we can protect our clean energy rights.

The final vote on the amended bill is expected soon, and adoption of these changes is virtually certain. We will continue to follow the process and share updates as they happen.
