Sun Light & Power is a Certified Benefit Corporation, an alternative form of legal incorporation that enables for-profit entities to integrate social and environmental goals into their business operations. Sun Light & Power was one of the first 15 Benefit Corporations in California. As with other Benefit Corporations, our priorities are “People, Planet, and Prosperity.”
Benefit Corporations are expected to meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and most importantly, accountability. It is the policy of Sun Light & Power to support the local community by ensuring that at least 75% of our customers are independent and locally-owned. In 2020, 91% of revenue generated was from customers within a 50-mile radius of our location in Berkeley.
