In March 2025, ahead of his official retirement at the end of that year, we sat down with Sun Light & Power founder Gary Gerber to document the story of a solar industry pioneer.
Gary founded Sun Light & Power in 1976, a time when the solar industry was in its infancy. In this retrospective interview, he takes us through the company’s nearly 50-year evolution, from the early days of solar thermal and the "solar coaster" of the 1980s to Sun Light & Power becoming a premier 100% employee-owned (ESOP) Benefit Corporation.
